CRS BARS
CORROSION-RESISTANT STEEL
Made with Technology.
Pulkit was the first company to manufacture corrosion-resistant steel TMT bars in South India. These are produced using a judicious selection of corrosion-resistant elements, complemented by a special Thermo Mechanical Treatment. Copper plug pores in rust. Phosphorus acts as an inhibitor as PO. The oxide layer formed is dense, with few pores/cracks that reduces the ingress of oxygen, sulphur dioxide and chloride through the oxide-metal interface. Resistance to pitting is improved by the chromium content. The microstructure resulting from the TMT process leads the higher corrosion resistance compared to regular TMT bars.
Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRS) is an inherent need of concrete structures that are exposed to humidity, coastal breeze, seawater, subsoil, brackish water and gaseous emissions in individual set-ups. In such environments, corrosion sets in and destroys buildings over time. Hence, the need for CRS arises. While several methods of fighting building corrosion have been technically developed, the only practical solution is cost-effective steel whose composition is controlled to impart intrinsically improved corrosion-resistant properties.
This reduces the rate of corrosion from the time of construction, allowing for longevity of the building structure.

THE CRS ADVANTAGE
- Longer life due to superior pitting resistance.
- High yield strength coupled with good ductility and bendability.
- No extra precaution required during welding, material handling and transportation and no maintenance needed during fabrication.
- Can be bent and re-bent around very small mandrels.
- Suitable for applications in seismic zones.
